The West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, WASSCE is scheduled to commence on the 15th of August 2021. You may have been wondering how you would sit for the examination and pass successfully while smashing your papers with A’s and B’s. Don’t be misguided, I’m not going to give you series of motivational; probably because you should have come across multiple of those by now.
What I’m about to share with you in this post are those little but detailed secrets that you would need to succeed in your examinations.
Some of these points were outlined by the WAEC Board and I would be expatiating on them in this post
“Candidates should view the Information VCD before they register for the examination”
Ignorance and misinformation are very bad when preparing for anything. Make sure you read every guide or manual and watch the VCD given to you by the board to prepare for the exams. It would go a long way in helping you with your preparations.
“Candidates should note that registration fee is not refundable.”
If you are unsure about registering for the Examination or you feel unprepared, yet you registered or you might not be able to sit for the examination; you must know that whatever fees you paid would not be refunded to you.
“Candidates should print the examination Timetable after WAEC registration.”
This is very necessary so you don’t miss your papers to ‘had I known’.
“Entries must be uploaded with good quality passport size photographs, not ‘wait and get’ photographs. The background of such photographs MUST NOT BE BLUE OR RED. The size should be 275 by 314 pixels. Entries with unacceptable passport photographs will be rejected.”
When you make this mistake, it may be difficult identifying you. You may not also be allowed into the examination hall due to lack of identification means. Do well to register properly and on time. It would favor you if you register calmly and not hastily as you might forget or neglect some important information.
“Candidates should study the Regulations and Syllabuses and the WAEC Timetable for the examination that they can download from WAEC website (http://www.waeconline.org.ng/) using the Registration PIN.”
This point is a necessity. You might have read every single book, text, or journal that you have come across, yet you are focused on the wrong topics. You need to know and revise what you expect to see in your exam. The syllabus will be a better guide to this effect. It is accessible on the link above.
“Candidates must go to examination halls in appropriate uniforms and without arms. No professional uniform of any kind will be allowed in the examination halls.”
Dress properly and decently to the Examination venue. Make sure that you are comfortable in the cloth you are putting on and it is not a distraction to those around you.
“The entire results of candidates who sit the examination in more than one center will be canceled.”
This point has been buttressed on the link provided above. It is contained under the regulations section.
“Smoking is not allowed in the examination hall.”
Not just smoking, but all forms of truant attitudes would not be tolerated.
“Any candidate who comes into the examination hall with mobile phone(s) and /or electronic gadget(s) will have their entire results canceled.”
Doing this posits you as a malpractice student and if caught you are punishable by law. From the proceedings, you are to serve a jail term of close to fifteen years or more.
“Candidates must ensure that their entries are correctly completed before uploading as the Council will not be held responsible for errors in candidates’ particulars. Request for correction will NOT BE entertained on any information which a candidate voluntarily gives at the point of registration as soon as the examination commences.”
Though mistakes and errors on the Candidate’s details can be corrected, you would be requested to pay a fine for some of them, while others cannot be changed at all. Example: your Date of Birth
“Candidates must come into the examination hall with their original Photo Cards.”
This is for identification purposes and to avoid cases where some individuals write for Candidates.
“Candidates who engage in examination malpractice will not only have their results canceled but may be prosecuted.”
Another reason why you should think twice before indulging in such a mischievous act.
“Candidates must ensure they provide a valid email address and telephone number (s) during registration.”
The Board will keep in touch with you to lead you on in other important information you would be needing with time.
“All candidates must be prepared to observe all COVID-19 Regulations”
We are all still involved in the pandemic. It is our singular responsibility to keep each other safe and free from the virus. This can only be achieved by adhering strictly to the Covid-19 preventive measures.
