To get the National Scholarship Portal application form, follow the steps below.
- Visit: scholarships.gov.in
- Click on ‘New Registration’.
- As a new user click on ‘New User? Register’.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and agree to the three terms by ticking the boxes.
- Click continue.
- Choose your state of domicile and your scholarship region.
- Insert the student name and scheme type.
- Type in date of birth and gender.
- Put the mobile number of the student, email ID, and bank IFSC Code, and confirm the Bank IFSC Code by retyping it.
- Insert the Bank Account Number, and confirm the bank account number by typing it again.
- Choose an Identification Detail.
- Type in the Captcha Code as you will see on the page below.
- Register.
A One-Time Password will be sent by the National Scholarship Portal to the phone number you provided. Ensure that the phone number you inserted is functional and used by you before you proceed with registration.
Registration Guide
To register for a scholarship at the National Scholarship Portal for the first time, you need to register as a fresh applicant. You will be required to provide accurate and genuine details as demanded by the website.
For students who are below the age of 18 years as of the date of registration, the registration form should be filled out by their parents or guardians.
There are certain documents that should be kept in place before a student proceeds on the registration process. See the documents below;
- Student’s educational documents
- Bank details of the student and bank branch’s IFSC code (Parents whose children do not have bank accounts, for example, pre matric scholarship scheme, account details of parents should be provided. One account number of a parent can only be used for not more than 2 children.
- Student’s Aadhaar number
- When Aadhaar is not available, the student’s bonafide certificate from school/institution and,
- Scanned copy of student’s bank passbook and Aadhaar Enrolment ID.
- A bonafide student certificate should be provided if the school or institute is different from the applicant’s domicile state.

The application for scholarship in the National Scholarship Portal is open for the following set of students;
- Students studying in India
- Indian citizens or legal residents
- Students who are studying from 1st Class to 10th Class are eligible to apply for the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme.
- Students studying from 11th Class, 12th Class, and above can apply for the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme/Top Class Scholarship Scheme/Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme.

National Scholarship Portal Renewal Guide
If you got a scholarship through the National Scholarship Portal last year, you can decide to renew your scholarship application this year.

Please note that your application ID is the same as the Student Registration ID of last year.
